Anthony Bufis' Social Studies Course 

About Me

My name is Anthony Bufis and I will be your child's History Teacher for the 2023 - 2024 school year. This is my thirteenth year teaching at Mauldin High School. I was born in New York, and moved to South Carolina in 1991 and love it here. I attended Mauldin High School and enjoyed every minute of my high school experience. From competing with the Speech and Debate Team to performing in the various theatrical productions, and being involved in the Teacher Cadet Program, Mauldin prepared me to continue on my educational journey. After graduating I attended Winthrop University where I had a wonderful experience in college life, acquiring skills I needed to prepare myself to be a history teacher. I graduated from Winthrop in 2011, after college I was fortunate enough to acquire a job at Mauldin High. It has been a fun and wonderful experience teaching at my former High School. I can't wait to get to know each of you in the coming year and hopefully you will enjoy history as much as I do!

My interest do play a role in how I teach. I love movies and traveling so when I visit historical locations I will be sure to take pictures so my students can see history in the past and present. I reference movies often in class to show the true experience from that time period. From "The Help" to "Gangs of New York" to "Gettysburg", movies are a gate way to make history come alive for students. In additions to these interests I also enjoy playing video games, reading, playing chess, and love the chance to travel around the world.
